Pickering Powerhouse Toastmasters

The Pickering Powerhouse Toastmasters Club meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Our club meets at the Pickering Public Library (directions below). We run meetings every week through September to June. We break for the summer months of July and August.

Guests are welcomed and encouraged to attend any of our meetings. Pre-registration is not required. Why don't you stop by for a visit? We would love to have you.

Guests are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes prior to our start time of 6:30 PM. This is so we can get you settled in before we start.

Our Mission

The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

What We Do

At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Our Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet once a week for about two hours. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice:

Conducting meetings. Meetings usually begin with a short business session which helps members learn basic meeting procedures.
Giving impromptu speeches. Members present one-to two-minute impromptu speeches on assigned topics.
Presenting prepared speeches. Three or more members present speeches based on projects from the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Program manuals. Projects cover such topics as speech organization, voice, language, gestures, and persuasion.
Offering constructive evaluation. Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.

From the west ...

Exit 401at Brock Road and proceed north. Turn West on Hwy # 2. Second stop light is Glenanna Road. Turn left to travel south. The library is at the corner of Glenanna and The Esplanade. Look for the clock tower.
